Eagle Rock Bassmasters
May 2005 Newsletter
Well, here it is May already and the year is almost half gone… can you believe it! I apologize for not getting the newsletter out sooner but it has been quite hectic around our house the last couple of weeks, now that things have settled down a bit I should be back on track.
Warren reported on the bank account status.
The motor banners have arrived and Jeff G. has taken the liberty to have ERMB placed on them, and they look great – THANKS Jeff G.
As reported in the last newsletter there are meetings being held by the fish and game department, in regards to making some changes to the fishing regulations. There was a meeting scheduled in Pocatello on May 5th and one in Blackfoot on May 10th. If anybody attended we would like an update at the next club meeting.
The “catch and release” signs have been placed at Mud Lake, thanks to Lance, Lynn and Jeff G. We are waiting for an exact location so we can place the one at Gem Lake. We are still waiting for the permits for the spawning beds at Mud Lake. Fish and game is still working on a proposal to open up fishing between Massacre rocks and Walcott, Eddie is drafting a letter to help sway the outcome. Eddie also reported that there is a big study developing in Region 4 on smallmouth bass.
There was a board of directors meeting held on May 2, 2005, to discuss an incident that happened at the Blackfoot clubs 3 man tournament at Milner on Saturday April 30th , which involved some of our club members. It was determined that the incident should be handled by the Blackfoot club if they so desire, since it was their tournament. It was further determined that some guidelines need to be set so this type of incident doesn’t happen again.
The board has agreed upon the following items:
• A code of conduct (ethics) will be developed – please submit all ideas, expectations in writing to Jeff C. by May 25.
• Sportsmanship will be enforced, if you break these rules disciplinary action will be taken, the first offence will be probation, followed by suspension and then termination from the club for further offences.
• We would like to bring the club back to “family” oriented values and stay strong all year not just in the summer.
• Tournament fees will be strictly that!, the fees are as follows: $5.00 ($2.00 to the club and $3.00 for big fish). There will be a $10.00 option and a $5.00 big fish option for those that wish to participate, there will be NO other options carried on the club books, additional options can be done between those individuals that wish to participate, the later options are NOT to interfere with club business or they will face disciplinary action.
As of May 2, 2005, Corey Mitchell has resigned as tournament director and the club, we are sorry to see him leave. Thanks for doing such a great job all these years. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
Jeff Gibson also resigned as club President effective May 10, 2005, he will remain a club member. Jeff G. has done an outstanding job as President. Jeff C will act as President until we elect a new President. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday June 7th, at 7:00 p.m. at Tom’s Gyro’s. This will be a very important meeting as we need to elect a new President and appoint a new tournament committee.
On May 14, 2005 we held our second tournament at Glendale. Congratulations go out to Brant Davis (Pro) and Sandy York (Amateur) for winning their divisions. Congratulations also go to Brad Gardner for having the big fish at 2 lbs. We had 12 boats. It was a very tough day of fishing and we would like to thank everyone that pitched in to help out with the tasks that needed to be handled. There were no limits at weigh in. Idaho Fish and Game showed up at the weigh in and took some additional data on the fish that were caught. We had several guests show up to fish and have expressed a desire to join the club. They were asked to attend the next meeting on June 7, 2005 to be officially voted into the club.
Our next tournament will be Saturday May 21, 2005 at Massacre Rocks. See you there and good luck.
