February 2005 Newsletter

February already, where is the time going, can you believe there is only 58 days until our first tournament and DON’T FORGET your Valentine on February 14.

Thanks to everyone who attended the banquet on Sunday, it was lots if fun. The food was good but the company was better. Congratulations to all the Award winners. Thanks to everyone who participated in the raffle with a donation and/or purchasing tickets, it was a great success, raising $355.00 for the club. WAY TO GO!!!

A reminder that the Blackfoot clubs banquet is February 12, at the Blackfoot Elks Lodge the cost is $20.00 per person and this includes dinner and tip.

It was brought up, voted on and passed that the meeting day and place are to be changed. So starting Tuesday March 1st 2005 the meeting day will be the first TUESDAY of the month at Tom’s Gyros at 7:00pm (corner of Holmes and Elva) in Idaho Falls, behind the Gangplank restaurant across from Pinecrest golf course.

Warren reported that the bank account has been closed and the new one is open. We now have our own tax ID number; we are presently still waiting on a couple of forms to complete the items necessary for “social club” status.

We would like to use some of the money in our bank account to benefit the club by bringing in new members so if you have any ideas give Jeff G or Jeff C a call or better yet attend the next meeting. One idea already presented is to add signs to some of the projects that have already been completed by the club i.e. Roberts gravel pond and Mud lake. Jeff G has been in contact with the Massacre rocks people and they are planning on putting up a picnic shelter by the dock, Jeff expressed the clubs desire to help with labor, purchasing materials or whatever. The signs we have already purchased will be delivered to Corey this week for a clear coat sealing and we hope to have them in place in the next couple of weeks, please call one of the Jeff’s if you would like to help with this project. Corey has volunteered to check on pricing for additional signs made locally. Darren recommends that we hang brochures as well as the monthly newsletter on the boards at Sportsman’s warehouse.

It was requested that the winner(s) of each tournament have their picture and winning weight placed in the newsletter and web page.

It has been suggested by club members that we appoint/elect a Conservation Chairman and/or committee. Possible candidates for the Conservation Chairman or committee were Eddie Delonas, Jeff Gibson and Lance Linsenmann, with possibly 2 chairmen i.e. Eddie for the south and someone from the north, with the intent (hopefully) of getting the two Fish and Game Regions to communicate more effectively.

It has been confirmed that north of Idaho Falls ALL the way to American Falls there are BASS!! OK who let the secret out??

There will be a fish and game meeting sometime in March and we strongly encourage as many people as possible attend – we will notify you as soon as we know the date. We would like everyone to attend the Club’s March meeting so we can discuss what we would like to bring up at the Fish and Game meeting.

We are in the process of updating the tournament rules. We need to have this completed before the first tournament so we would like everyone to review the rules. If you have any suggestions contact one of the Jeff’s or Corey before the next meeting. We will also be updating the bylaws before the year is out.

Jeff C has investigated all types of tournament software to track all the weights/divisions etc at the tournaments. The software is called “The Tournament Keeper” looks to be the best for our money at a cost of $79.95, it can do almost everything, and what is doesn’t do, we can build into it. It was voted in to purchase the software.

The August 13th tournament at Massacre rocks has been changed to August 14th due to a conflict with a federation qualifier.

The 2 man fun tournament will be a citgo type, with a draw for partners however husbands and wives can fish together if they so desire. There will be a poll 60 days prior to see if there are enough people still interested if so the entry fees will be due 30 days prior to the tournament.

Darren brought in some of the new plastics that are being carried at Sportsman’s Warehouse, he stated that if you find one that you really like and want to order them in the bulk (bags of 100) just let him know.

2005 club dues are due, in order to keep on receiving the clubs news letter please get your dues to one of the Officers or mail to Eagle Rock Bassmasters 3318 Iona Rd., Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401 by the March 2005 meeting. Thank you to all who have paid their dues for the 2005.
