August 2005 Newsletter

Remember September 10th is our Open at Milner.

There was a motion and a second to approve the minutes from the July meeting.

Warren reported on the bank account status, there was a motion and a second to approve the treasurer’s report.

Conservation: Eddie reported that the sign is up at Massacre rocks, and the board is very prominent. We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to who ever laminated an article about small mouth bass and hung it on the board as well. It was discussed that a sticker or something be placed on the sign to say that it was donated by the club. Fish and game have reported that 3 radio tagged fish have been harvested. Massacre rocks has a state park day each year (it was held a couple of weeks ago), it has lots of information and educational items – the only thing missing is fishing, so the club has been asked to participate next year. A motion was made to find some type of project to spend some of the conservation money on, as discussed in the meeting couple of months ago, we were supposed to talk with the massacre rocks people and assist them in putting up a shelter/picnic area, this will be further investigated.

Federation: There was nothing new at this time.

Youth: Chris was not present at the meeting.

Tournament Committee: There was a motion to combine our Saturday August 13th Massacre rocks tournament with the snake river valley club on Sunday the 14th – motioned was voted down. There was a motion to move the Saturday August 13th tournament to the morning instead of an evening – it was passed, so the August 13th tournament will be a safe light launch with weight in at 1:00 pm. Brandt will contact all club members to notify them of the change. There was a motion to have all the boats actually in the water and ready to take off at safe light – motion was passed. Lights on your boat are a MUST. Check in time will be at 4:30 am.

The OPEN: Some of the prizes are a Lowrance fish finder ($400 value), gallons of oil, free maintenance checks. Eddie will get in touch with Riverside to reserve the bar for post weigh in party. There will be pre-registration and off limits set, you will be required to show proof of insurance. Weigh in will be 5 people at a time with everybody else keeping their fish in the live wells, when a person is done with weigh in he will hand his bag to the next person (this will hopefully help preserve the fish). Release will be done by ERBM boats – one boat for every 20 fish. There will be bags for each person fishing with one raffle ticket in it, that will be specific for the fish finder (this is for participants only – registration fees gets you into the raffle). Each ERBM club member is asked to donate a $10.00 item for the raffle; the tournament committee will be given $100.00 a week before the tournament to purchase additional raffle items. Plaques for this year will be the same as last year with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place as well as big fish – Jeff G. will place the order. All above items were motions, and passed with a unanimous vote.

Old Business:

Club meeting raffle – a motion was made that the club spend $25.00 to purchase items for the raffle and each member bring an item valued at $5.00 or less, please remember that we have ladies and children that attend so these items are needed as well, remember it does NOT always have to be fishing items – the vote was unanimous.

Casting for kids – a motion was made to give each child that won $100.00 to put towards their trip to Boise – the vote was unanimous.

New Business:

The tournament committee plans to have a proposed schedule for 2006 at the September meeting – if you have any special requests of where and what time of year to fish a certain spot let one of the committee members know (Eddie, Jeff G, or Brandt).

Begin reviewing the current rules so we can start thinking about which and what rules need to be revised – this will take place in November.

A motion was made to discuss how many places to recognize at the yearly banquet – the decision was for angler of the year, the top 3 pros, top 2 amateurs, sportsman of the year and lady angler of the year – vote was unanimous.

A motion was made to keep club records for biggest fish etc and pay out a cash prize when the record was broken – we will vote on this at the next meeting.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
